Move-In Time Frames

Due to traffic patterns and the assistance of Mercer Mover volunteers, new students are asked to move to campus during their assigned time frame:

International Student Arrival

First-year international students work with Ms. Liz Dille within the Office of International Programs>> to plan for arrival to campus. International students are expected to arrive on Thursday, August 16 and participate in International Student Orientation on Friday, August 17 and Saturday, August 18 before attending the larger, first-year student fall orientation program, Bear Beginnings, from Saturday, August 18-Monday, August 20.

Opening Day Festivities: Refreshments with Toby

From 1:00-3:15 p.m., grab a snack and celebrate your first day of college with a FREE photo & frame, browse Mercer merchandise at the Bookstore’s “pop up shop,” obtain your 2018-2019 parking decal from the Mercer Police table, and listen to THREE17, a Mercer alumni’s band.

Opening Day Festivities: Welcome Ceremony

Following Refreshments with Toby in the afternoon, join us for the welcome ceremony at 3:30 p.m. in the University Center's Hawkins Arena. Mercer faculty and staff welcome students to campus and share Mercer traditions. This is also where first-year students learn more about their Bear Beginnings program that takes place over the course of their next few days on campus. From 4:00-7:00 p.m., residential students and families can wrap up any loose ends, eat dinner, and say your goodbyes. ALL FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO CHECK-IN AT THE UC FOR THE BEAR BEGINNINGS KICK-OFF AT 7:00 P.M. The Bear Beginnings fall orientation program>> begins in the evening of Opening Day and lasts until Monday afternoon before classes begin on Tuesday.

Opening Day Festivities: Commuter Student Program

After the Welcome Ceremony, Commuter students and families attend the Commuter Program in the UC President’s Dining Room to learn more about the commuter student transition to college. Families depart at 5:00 p.m. Students continue their program, eat dinner together, and check-in for Bear Beginnings in the UC at 7:00 p.m. Please note: All meals throughout the Bear Beginnings program will be provided to our commuter students FREE of charge.
